Dr. Rachelle N. Ornan-Stone is an entrepreneurial, detail and data-driven design professional with a penchance for the exploration and pursuit of big ideas and challenges within aerospace, especially when it comes to the balance of aesthetics, psychology, and safety. She was instrumental in initiating collaboration between Boeing Commercial Airplanes and Boeing Space & Defense on the design and development of the CST-100/Starliner baseline and concept interior while spearheading key cross-industry engagements and sponsorships. She currently directs research related to Boeing aircraft interiors and bridges communication between sales, marketing, engineering and customers to ensure a commercially viable, preferred product to maximize revenue. Rachelle holds a PhD in experimental and human factors psychology, and a master’s in Industrial Design from North Carolina State University. She is an avid outdoorswoman and competitive synchronized swimmer who wants to be an astronaut when she grows up.
