We are living in a world where the increasing volume of daily information represents both a challenge and an opportunity for our Offices users to become more impactful and efficient. In this keynote, Sumit Chauhan – CVP of Office, will describe the work behind our efforts to reinvent the user experience through AI in applications like PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Outlook. The speaker will illustrate the road to success with real world examples of Office intelligent services in the first part of the presentation, while focusing in the second part on new and exciting work happening right now in our AI related projects.
The future will definitely include productivity tools with built in intelligence in order to assist the users in a data rich environment and a continuously evolving world at high speed. This presentation will provide insights regarding the progress we made so far in Office and future plans to make the intelligent productivity suite a reality.
Sumit heads up the engineering for the Canvas organization in OXO which includes Word and PowerPoint across mobile, web and desktop. The Canvas team is also powering all intelligence investments across Word, Excel and PPT, and infusing scalable AI into these products. The impact is increased productivity for millions of Office users. The team is also working to reimagine the Office experience powered by intelligent services.
Prior to this, Sumit lead the Office Engineering team. Her multi-disciplinary team was responsible for driving radical improvements in engineering workflow. Under her leadership, significance progress was made revolutionizing the Office team engineering methodology, moving from three year cycles to continuous engineering with monthly “evergreen” releases. Sumit established a data-driven organization for Office clients that executes, measures and improves results for all of Office.
Sumit has a strong track record of engineering leadership and execution over many years. Before her current role, she was most known for her technical acumen and leadership in Excel and Access.
Sumit grew up in India but has lived in the Redmond for the last twenty years. She is an avid traveler and skier. She is also a mother to two fantastic girls aged 14 and 4. Sumit is an avid supporter of API Chaya – a grassroots organization that provides support to people who have experienced domestic violence, human trafficking and exploitation. She is also an active supporter of ODW, an organization taking action against extreme global poverty
