We are wired to form connections with others, to find patterns, to suspend disbelief. Drawing on her design career in emerging tech and as an artist, janet galore takes us on an exploration of art and design in the current wave of LLMs and AI. Starting with first principles and design insights gleaned from working with conversational AI/LLMs, we’ll consider how tech and AI is shifting our perceptions of truth, living in hyperreality, and ultimately, our responsibilities and opportunities as designers, artists, and humans with agency.

janet galore is an interdisciplinary artist, designer, and author based in Seattle. She has spent nearly 30 years creating new experiences in emerging tech, from the first wave of consumer VR in the 1990s, to prototyping at Microsoft Research, to heading a concept lab at Amazon, to leading teams of UX writers working on AI at Google in her current role. Outside of work, janet co-directs The Grocery Studios with her partner demi raven. Her award-winning art and animation centers on themes of perception, parafiction, and the surreal. janet holds a BS in pure mathematics from the University of Washington and over 25 patents.
